Previously served in the 1 Lanark Royal Garrison Artillery for 3 years, 5/5/1915 enlisted as a Pte. 2 Scottish Horse. No. 5876. He enlisted 15/7/15, Home Address: 8 Carlton Terrace, Kelvinside, Glasgow. Discharged 7/3/19. Served Egypt 6/4/16 to 19/12/16, Salonika 19/12/16 to 11/12/18. 20/1/17 attached to MMP, 20/10/17 Transferred to MMP. Suffered from chronic malaria which started in November 17 due to malarial conditions in Salonika. Suffered from a chest weakness due to pneumonia contracted in Bulgaria. He had several Malarial attacks in Rhodesia during years 1911 to 1915 but attack never lasted more than a couple of days. Alexandria 5/4/16, Salonika 15/12/16, 28 Division 26/3/17, APM 12 Corps 28/8/18, To UK 11/12/18. No Middle East Service shown on medal roll. 14/1/1919 a letter in his record from the Bank of England states that he has £526-06-03 £5 % War Stock. After the war he was re patriated to Feira, Rhodesia where he had worked for the African Lakes Corporation.
