On Friday Police Constable Percy Conner will take his official farewell of the West Sussex Police Force and Storrington will miss one of its most familiar figures. Of the 25 years that he has been in the Force Police Constable Connor has spent 15 in this village. A native of Duncton he joined the police in 1914 and was next stationed at Worthing and later at Shoreham. The Great War came and he joined the Military Mounted Police and went to France, Serving throughout the hostilities. Later he rejoined the Force again going to Shoreham and then he came to Storrington. During his residence here he has taken an active interest in local sports, giving assistance on many occasions to the VCricke5t Club. He is also an enthusiastic golfer. An extremely keen gardener, his name often appeared in the list of prize-winners at the Storrington Flower Show. After such a long official career he will not, it is certain shed any tears when he take off his uniform for the last time. (Article has a picture of PC Connor in police uniform.)
