Formerly served in the Royal Garrison Artillery for 15 months. Attested 8/12/15, Army Reserve 9/12/15 to 12/6/16, Home 13/6/16 to 11/2/19 discharged no longer physically fit for war service. Attached to 7 Reserve Bn. Royal Warwickshire Regiment, North Elswick Hall, Newcastle upon Tyne. A letter in his army record from the
D P M Northern Command York to the Military Control Officer, Newcastle on Tyne dated 30/11/18 reads: Ref attached correspondence, attention is drawn to War Office letters 23/gen.No/2711 (A.G.3) of 20/11/16 and No. 63/4754 (A.G.3) of 26/1/17 in which it is laid down that the Port Police are attached to the nearest suitable Headquarters for pay, rations, clothing and discipline. This was repeated in Northern Command Order No. 161 of 31/1/17. From the above it will be seen that the Port Police are not under the Deputy Provost Marshal of the Command.
