Decoration Record:
Decoration: US Bronze Star (London Gazette: 38288 Page: 2920 May 14, 1948)
Citation: Italy. Citation for US Bronze Star: The rapid movement of men and supplies on forward maintenance tracks of the Divisional Axis was of paramount importance in assuring the success of the battles in the hills. The task of police road patrol was assigned to Corporal Redbond. For a period of over a month (15th February to 20th March) Corporal Redbond patrolled the PORTELLA, VILLA, CAIRO circuit day and night. This circuit underwent constant enemy shelling, but with complete disregard for his personal safety, Corporal Redbond policed vehicles through the circuit, kept shell holes on the road filled in by prompt messages passed to field engineers, and successfully recovered damaged vehicles by calling up the workshops recovery. The two policemen under his command, who helped him in his task, were killed by enemy shelling and Corporal Redbond had to complete his task on his own. His bravery was an inspiration to all those who came in contact with him on his arduous work.National Archive WO 373/148
