National Roll of the Great War 1914-1918, Section II, London, Page 239. He volunteered in 1914, and after his training was drafted to the Western Front the following year, later to Salonika and from there to Egypt. During his service in these theatres of war he was engaged on special duties as an interpreter and rendered valuable services. He contracted Malaria during his service in the East, and was invalided home and discharged in consequence in 1917.
