He was born in Holloway, Middlesex and enlisted in the MMP 20/10/14, age 34 years, occupation Builder, Home address: 2 Hanover Crescent, Brighton, Sussex. Served Home 20/10/14 to 11/7/15, BEF 12/7/15 to 28/3/16, Home 29/3/16 to 10/9/16 Discharged no longer physically fit for war service. Issued with Armlet No. 72059 via the Chief Constable, Brighton. He had formerly served in the Cape Mounted Rifles. From Pension Record. Neurasthenia, originated March 1916 in France, has complained of various sensations, numbness in limbs, burning pains in head, loss of strength generally. Has had an emotional attack of weeping and partially lost his speech, memory became very bad. Legs became weak and thinner. Suffers from various pains especially in the head, speech very hesitating, some stuttering. Depressed at times, cannot concentrate his attention e.g .forgets what he is reading about . On enlistment, weight 13 stone 7 pounds now 11 stones 8 1/2 pounds. Not a result of but aggravated by hardships of active service. Not permanent, duration 6 months. Prevents 3/4.
