Citation: | Algeria, Tunisia. Citation for BEM: This NCO landed in Algiers on 13/11/42 During the period of the first month he proved invaluable. There was no officer other than the OC of the unit and the CSM fell down on the job and had to be eventually removed, and consequently much fell on his shoulders. He was extremelty efficient and worked cheerfully on the "Q" side where a great deal of work had to be done because Coy. HQ was a Stragglers Post and a transit camp for Provost personnel disembarking. Men were arriving at all times but he never failed to cope with any situation and as soon as his "Q" duties were finished he devoted himself to the operational Police side, volunteering to go out in the evenings, dealing with difficult situations which were prevalent at the time with his usual tact and efficienty. By his indefatigable spirit and cheerfulness during the long hours which were put in, he was a shining example to the other NCO's.Capt OC 227 (L of C) Pro Coy. Major APM. Chief Admin Officer ALHQ.
