Citation for BEM: This NCO has been responsible during recent ops for the installation and maintenance of telephonic communication between Coy HQ and outlying sections employed on traffic control points. These traffic control points were controlling the flow of supplies and reinforcements to the forward areas, and it was vital that they should be in constant communication with Coy HQ. This entailed long and arduous hours of work at all times of day and night, but L/Cpl Mellor cheerfully accepted this responsibility, and by his unselfishness, devotion to duty and untiring efforts maintained these communications under all conditions, and set an inspiring example to the whole company.Col Ball DPM 1st Canadian Army.
