Citation: Germany. Citation for BEM: This NCO has at all times shewn exceptional keeness and devotion to duty in the exercise of his police duties. Since arrival in B.L.A. in September 44 until 8th May 45 he has been responsible for arresting no fewer than 69 deserters, all but seven of them long absent and many of them armed and determined to resist. His zeal and courage has been an insipiration to his section and set a standard which permeated throughout the Company. His work on frontier control was beyond praise and was largely responsible for the suppression of tobacco smuggling and the carrying of contraband by W.D.
