Decoration: British Empire Medal (London Gazette: 37442 Page: 627 Jan. 24, 1946)
Citation: North West Europe. Citation for BEM: Since the commencement of the campaign CQMS Grehan has shown outstandign zeal and has successfully overcome many and varied difficulties. At no time has the Provost Coy lacked stores or equimpent, due entirely to this NCO's foresight and hard work. He invariably placed the interest of the Coy above his own and under the most trying circumstances worked without a thought for his own safety or comfort. During the advance through Normandy, the crossing of the Seine, and through Belgium and Holland CQMS Grehan at all times personally supervised the delivery of rations to Secs, often at considerable personal risk. On no single occasion did the rations fail to arrive on time. CQMS Grehan has all through set a splendid example of fearlessness and unselfinshness and it was largely due to his efforts that the Provost Coy maintained its standard.Maj C F Dunn APM 49 Div.
