Obituary - With regret we have to record the death of Lance Corporal Edwin Capell. This young man was only 24 years of age, and promised to do well in his work. he was engaged a Corporal of military Foot Police, and as such, was present at the Battle of Colenso, being part of General Buller's body-guard. During the later part of the action he witnessed the loss of the guns, and also saw Lord Robert's son shot whilst attempting to save them. But a sad change fell to his lot, he developed tubercle of the lung and had to be invalided home. He was beyond medical aid, and after being tenderly nursed by his Mother and friends, he died on September 26th, and was interred at Campton Churchyard on Monday last.
