L/Cpl Eric Elliott, RMP whose home is in Fordfield Road, Pennywell was buried today at Ipoh, Perak, Malaya. L/Cpl Elliott, who was 20, died in hospital shortly after the accident, in hi pocket was an unopened letter from his mother, which he had collected at Ipoh Post Office. New Motorcycle. Yesterday morning hi mother, Mrs Ethel Elliott of Fordfield Road had received a letter from Eric: saying: "Yesterday (on April 13) I received a brand new motorcycle. It's a smasher. I am only waiting till I can get a Jeep." Before he was called up for National Service L/cpl Elliott was in the Merchant Navy. He served with the Royal Military Police and was one of eight men and a sergeant responsible for 6,000 square miles of territory in the States of Perak and Pahang. L/Cpl Elliott intended to make his career in the civilian police, either in this country or in the colonies, when he was released from the Army. |
