Citation: CMP (I)Italy. Citation for Military Medal: At FORNELLO on 5th & 6th Sep 44 L/Cpl LOVERING was duty driver of the Provost Section which was supporting 19 Ind Inf Bde. Enemy positions on the high ground overlooked the Bde supply route on which any Movement was liable to draw fire and the area was frequently shelled at varying times throughout the night and day. This required very strict control of traffic. During the period L/Cpl LOVERING had to make a constant journeys each day over the most heavily shelled portion of the road in order to relieve the men on duty. No amount of enemy fire would deter him from setting out at the stated time of relief nor would he allow anyone else to give him a rest. his cool courage and his unfailing punctuality gave great confidence to others in his section and contributed in a very large measure to their high morale.Maj H M Knee APM 8 Indian Div.
