Citation: Awarded as Pte. East Lancashire Regiment, No. 13786, (LG 22/9/16).Citation: For conspicuous gallantry during operations he led his bombers against the enemy's trench under severe machine gun fire. It was largely due to his cool pluck that the enemy were driven back and 340 yards of trench captured and held.
