Decoration Record:
Decoration: Commendation (London Gazette: Page: None)
Citation: 25/3/1920 from OC 1 Depot Battalion, Machine Gun Corps, to APM Shorncliffe.I wish to bring to your notice the following facts. for some time past I have suspected that illegal sales of by-products have been taking lace from out cookhouse bur we have been unable to trace them. On the 16th instant, No. P/16029 L/cpl C H Fox, MFP very cleverly caught one of the cooks in the unlawful act of selling dripping to the swill contractor. The Contractor, Mr E Brooks, has been convicted and fined in a Civil Court and the cook remanded for Court Martial. I consider that Lance Corporal Fox should be commended for this smart capture. E A de Salis, DSO, Commanding 1st Depot Bn., Machine Gun Corps, Napier Bks, Shorncliffe, 25/3/1920.Also in his army record a letter from the DPM Eastern Command stating that the letter will be forwarded to the O/I/C Records,Corps of Military Police to be attached to his documents.
