Statement found in army record: Statement of Evidence against No. 25516 Dvr. Brown. At Hastings on the 19th Inst. at 6pm I was on duty in Queen Street when I saw the above named soldier, I asked him to produce his pass which he failed to do. He refused to state if he was absent or not. I arrested him and conducted him to the Garrison Guard Room and handed him over to the NCO i/c to be detained. Signed C Hayward.
