Citation: 25 Field Regiment, 4 Indian Division, 13 Corps. Citation: On the afternoon of the 23rd Nov 41, No. 786873 Lance Bombardier McQUEEN was OP Assistant to the FOO with the 4/16 Punjab Regiment in their attack on LIBYAN OMAR. The OP had been moving forward with A Company under a heavy fire and by night fall the Company was pinned to the ground and isolated. It was essential to obtain touch with the Battalion Headquarters and Lance Bombardier McQUEEN volunteered to find his way there in the darkness and across ground covered by continuous Machine-gun fire. This he succeeded in doing, thereby providing vital information regarding locations of the forward troops. Later, when given an opportunity to rest, he assisted in the evacuation of Sepoy casualties from the forward area. Throughout these operations Lance Bombardier McQUEEN has displayed outstanding bravery, initiative and boldness which were an inspiration to all those around him.Recommended for the immediate award of the MM.Recommended by: Brig.
