Extract from the Manchester Evening News - 10/1/42. THEIR TASK IS DONE. One of the first badges to be given to soldiers, totally disabled during the present war was brought into the "Manchester Evening News" to-day by ex Corporal James T Lord, of Brunswick street, Chorlton on Medlock. It is made of white metal a little larger than a shilling. it bears the Words "For Loyal Service." round the edge with the crown and GRI, Georgius Rex Imperator (George King and Emperor) scrolled in the centre. These badges will be issued to all totally disabled soldiers, receiving a pension. Mr Lord who is 26, was a regular soldier, attached to the Corps of Military Police. He was discharged from the Army last March, after four years' service, as totally disabled, through illness. He is however able to tackle light work and is at the moment driving a van.
