The admission of Corporal William Gillies, of the British Military Mounted Police on the Rhine, that he had fallen in love with a German girl and had broken his marriage vows, resulted in his wife, a woman of twenty seven belonging to Wishaw being granted a divorce at Edinburgh on Saturday. Mrs. Gillies said she was married in 1918, her husband being twenty two years old. In the letter from Cologne he said he was in love with a German girl at Danzig. In subsequent letters he urged her to take divorce proceedings. Mrs. gillies said she also received an anonymous letter, stating the writer had seen her husband in different parts of Germany in company with a German girl,m and that it was a fact that he was living with her. |
