Essex. News has been received of the death of PC Mann, of the Essex Constabulary. The deceased was stationed at High Easter for eight and a half years, and joined the Military Mounted Police. The news of his death came from his officer in a letter of sympathy to Mrs Mann. The deceased was with others sleeping in a cellar in France, when a shell smashed the building, killing the party. Police Review, 8/10/1915, page 490.
