Citation: | North West Europe. MBE Citation: CSM Marshall has served with 22 Coy CMP (TC) throughout the campaign in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. In a small independent unit such as this, often doing highly responsible work, his position is of enormous importance, and he has always carried out the spirit as well as the letter of his work as the right hand man of his Coy Commander with outstanding success. Duties have often necessitated very long hours and strenuous work in most trying conditions, but his unfailing cheerfulness and enthusiasm have been very large factors in the Company's success. During the Rhine crossing operation in March'45, this company had an important and forward role in 'Bank Control' round REES and CSM MARSHALL, working often under fire, by his personal example of courage, energy and enthusiasm, greatly encouraged all ranks to give of their best in these difficult and arduous conditions.
