The death occurred at Maesteg General Hospital on Thursday of Mr. Cecil Hopcutt, 4 Keir Hardie Road, Maesteg. aged 54m deceases was a native of Cheltenham, but came to Maesteg at the age of 5 with his parents. A carpenter and jointer by trade he worked at Llandarcy and Margram for some time but he served in the Forces for 23 years with the 2nd battalion Welch Regiment and was present at Dunkirk. For the past 4 years he had been caretaker of the Roman Catholic Schools at Maesteg. Funeral took place on Monday from the RC Churchy Requiem mass was said by the Rev. Father Reidy, PP. The last rites at the graveside were performed by the Rev. Reidy, assisted by the Rev. Father Rohan. (Article goes on to give a list of mourners). |
