He was born in Essex and resided in Halifax and served in Egypt with the Royal Horse Artillery in the 1930's. Served in the Southend on Sea Borough Police, PC 88 prior to war service. He died from from lymphatic leukaemia at the West Middlesex Hospital at Isleworth. He is commemorated at Mortlake Crematorium, Surrey and the Brookwood Memorial, Surrey.
