Pte. J W Gadsby Fatally Injured.
Mrs. Gadsby of 13 Horninglow Terrace, Burton has been officially notified of the death of her husband Pte. Joseph William Gadsby whilst serving with the Military Police in Northern Ireland. He is stated to have died as a result of an accident. Pte. Gadsby was 41 years of age and joined the North Staffordshire Territorials 6 months before the outbreak of war. He continued to serve in the North Staffs in which he gained the rank of Corporal, until about 14 months ago when he volunteered for the Military Police, for which he reverted to the rank of Pte.
A native of Burton he was well know in trade circles. For 12 years he kept a fruit and newsagent business in Princess Street.
Before there marriage 16 years ago Mrs. Gadsby was Miss. Elizabeth ? stall. They have one boy now 13 and one girls now aged 7.
