He served 25 years 36 days. Awarded the Long Service & Good Conduct Medal, Army Order 117 of 1917. 6/6/17 he married Georgina Barker at St Augustine's Edgbaston, Birmingham, son John Herbert was born 19/10/1917.

His Cheltenham friends and acquaintances will be sorry to hear of the death in Birmingham of Mr John Reynolds, who live in Cheltenham at the end of the war. Afterwards he went to live in Handsworth, not far from his birthplace, West Bromwich. Mr Reynolds who was 55 years was buried at Handsworth Cemetery on Monday. When he was 19 he enlisted in the East Yorkshire Regiment and served for 24 years without a break. For 15 years he was in the Military Foot Police, and during the war rose to the rank of Sergeant Major. During that time he saw service in India, Africa, Malta and many other places. In addition to his great war decorations he had medals for good conduct and long service. After demobilisation and periods at Birmingham, Cheltenham and Bournemouth he returned to Birmingham and joined the Corps of Commissionaires, with a position at the Mideyl Works occupied until his death. He leaves a widow and 13 year old son. The large attendance and the many floral tributes at the funeral were tokens of the esteem in which he was held.

OBITUARY - MR JOHN REYNOLDS.
The internment took place at Handsworth Cemetery on Monday of Mr. John Reynolds, of "Silverdale," Leyton Road, Handsworth. He was a very popular and respected figure in the district and had been for some years the commissionaire at the Dartmouth Road works of Messrs. Midland Motor Cylinder Company, Ltd. Born at West Bromwich fifty five years ago, Mr. Reynolds enlisted in the East Yorkshire Regiment when he was 16, and served for 24 1/2 years without a break. For fifteen years he was in the Military Foot Police and during the Great War he rose to be Sergeant Major. During that time he saw service in India, Africa, Malta, and many other places. In addition to his Great War decorations he had medals for good conduct and long service.
After demobilisation and periods at Birj8ingham, Cheltenham and Bournemouth, he returned to Birmingham and joined the Corps of Commissionaires, taking up the position at the Mideyl Works that he occupied until his death (which occurred at Hallam Hospital, West Bromwich, on Thursday last.
There will be sincere sympathy with the widow and their 13 year old son. The large attendance and the many floral tributes at the funeral were tokens of the esteem in which he was held.
