Citation: New Year Honour. 23683379 Staff Sergeant William Dennis Hare, RMP. For work as CQMS 101 Pro Coy. 30 Sept 1980 - to date.Citation: During his tour of duty as a Quartermaster Sergeant of 101 Provost Company, his first such appointment, SSGT HARE has been faced with a considerable number of extremely demanding and challenging tasks, far beyond the degree of difficulty normally associated with this type of post in the Corps of Royal Military Police. He has had to cope with these without the help of a unit Quartermaster, against non-negotiable deadlines and despite the death of his daughter and consequent family problems. In summary he has had to deal successfully with a situation which would have deterred all but the most resolute and determined of characters. For example in addition to his sole, responsibility for the day to-day management of three companies' vehicles, stores, accommodation and equipment, 101 and 102 Companies and the WRAC Provost BAOR increment, SSGT HARE has had to plan, organise and supervise the logistic aspects of the amalgamation of two units and concentration of a third from several widely dispersed locations. He has had to do so without any cessation in the busy round of normal business or deterioration in the support demanded for police operations and major exercises such as CRUSADER and the preparation for LIONHEART. SSGT HARE has set and maintained the highest standards successfully meeting every requirement placed upon him by a combination of exceptional professional efficiency and selfless personal dedication. His performance of his duties has been consistently in the highest traditions of the Service, an example to all with whom he has come into contact, and the results that he has produced far better than might be reasonable expected from the majority of more experienced senior not commissioned officers. He has made a most significant contribution to the work of his Corps in BAOR and his efforts are deserving of official recognition.Recommende by: Maj. OC 101 Pro Coy. Maj/Gen. HQ Rheindahlen.
