David Everard Crossley Price.
Decoration Record:
Decoration: Member of the British Empire (London Gazette: 37274 Page: 4673 Sept. 18, 1945)
Citation: Italy. MBE citation: This Officer assumed command of the CMP Depot & TE (Training Establishment). At OTTAVIANO in March 1944, shortly after the Unit's arrival from NORTH AFRICA. The training capacity of this Unit was then 120 and the accommodation available both dilapidated and inadequate. By his personal enthusiasm and initiative and in the face of very considerable administrative difficulties Major PRICE has now produced a first class Establishment with a present feeding strength of 1,000. This is the only permanent Police School in CMF and trains British, Canadian, South African, Indian, Polish and Italian Military Police in all branches of Police work including Criminal Investigation, and has dealt with approximately 2,664 students and probationers in the last 12 months. The machinery to deal with such a number of students and to produce such a high standard of training is entirely due to the outstanding efforts of the Commandant and is largely responsible for the high standard of efficiency of CMP personnel in the Theatre and for the excellent spirit of co-operation and friendship which exists between UK, Dominion and Allied Police. Col. Provost Marshall AFHQ. A. D. Ward Maj-Gen A/C of S, AFHQ. National Archive WO 373/73.
