Awarded the Long Service & Good Conduct medal. 1/7/77 he married Harriot Jane Wells (deceased) at the Congregational Church, Farnham, Surrey. Served Home 21/7/69 to 20/7/11. One of the first MMP. Forty five years a soldier and afterwards for many years a local preacher in connection with the Wesleyan Methodist Church, Mr. George Bell died here, at the age of 72. Enlisting in the 6th Inniskilling Dragoons, he was subsequently transferred to the Military Mounted Police and returned with retired with the rank of Sergt. Major. At the funeral, the coffin covered by the Union Jack, was borne by non-commissioned officers of the Military Mounted Police and capt. Hunt and other non-commissioned officers followed. |
