| Citation: | 14/8/15 this NCO was part of Operation Orcades 1.14, Kabul, Afghanistan and part of a Close Protection Team to Maj-Gen Bathurst, Deputy Advisor, Afghanistan, MOD. They were attending a ceremony at the Marshal Fahin National Defence University, Camp Qargha, Kabul, the training school for National Afghanistan Army Officers. Other dignitaries attending were German Gen Michael Bartscher and US Army Maj-Gen Harold Greene. The parade was attacked by a rogue Afghan Policeman, killing Maj Gen Greene and wounding 15 others, including Capt T Hutton, ADC to Maj Gen Bathurst. Members of Maj-Gen Bathurst's Close Protection Team were awarded by the US Army the Commendation Medal, for action taken at the incident. |
