Extract from the Lincolnshire Echo, 4/2/41. Inquest on Military Policeman Adjourned. Accident near Lincoln.
An inquest opened at Lincoln County Hospital yesterday on Lance Corporal John Edwin Cecil Knibb (25) Corps of Military Police, who was killed in an accident on Saturday on the Lincoln Saxilby Road, was adjourned until Friday for the attendance of the driver of the car concerned, Squadron Leader Oulton who was injured. The accident occurred when Knibb a native of Birmingham was riding a motorcycle. RSM Gundry, Corps of Military Police gave evidence of identification and Doctor James Miller Young a house surgeon at the hospital said Knibb has suffered a violent blow on the left side of his face, fracturing both jaws the base of the skull and the collar bone. Death was from injury to the brain due to a fractured skull.
