This month's meeting of Oldbury POW relatives Association was made memorable by the presence of about 40 Oldbury returned POW's - the latest batch to arrive. The gathering some of whom are pictured here with the major of Oldbury Ald. C T Barlow, seated centre was a very happy one. Each man received £2, one from the association's fund and one from the Major's Citizen Fund. Among the returned men was L/cpl Victor Boniface, nephew of the association's treasurer, Mr S T Key of 68 Broadwell Road, Oldbury. L/Cpl Boniface (third from left, second row) was captured just before Dunkirk. Her established Oldbury's first Scout troop and was its Master for eight years. Article accompanied by a large picture showing Lord Major and civilians and soldiers in battledress. |
