| Citation: | Italy. Citation for MID: This officer was serving with 115 Provost Company on the date of the initial landing of 10 Corps at SALERNO, and remained with that unit during all the actions in the field until 3 Jan 44. During this period his work was of the highest order which was inspired by his intense devotion to duty. He was appointed DAPM, HQ 3 District on 23 Oct 44. His appointment coincided with a considerable increase in administrative responsibilities of the Provost branch, the burden of which additional duties was borne by him. The high degree of enthusiasm, zeal and efficiency which he displayed was much more than might be expected from him in the normal course of his duty. Largely as a result of his efforts it was possible to surmount the most difficult obstacles, many of them of a delicate nature, and thus avoid any hitch in administrative machinery during what may be considered a very difficult period..Recommended for MBE, awarded MID.Lt Col Mc Nally DPM 3 District. Maj Gen Comd 3 District. National Archive WO 373/909 Pt.3. |
