Police Promotion.
The promotion to the rank of Sergeant of Detective Constable Arthur James Fox, Reading Borough Police was approved by the Reading Watch Committee on Tuesday. Sgt Fox will no take up uniformed patrol duty.
A native of the town, Sgt fox served in the Grenadier Guards until 1936 when he joined the Borough Police. He rejoined his regiment on the outbreak of was and subsequently transferred to the Special Investigation Branch of the Corps of Royal Military Police, reaching the rank of Captain. He rejoined the Police in 1946 and was posted to CID duties as Detective Constable and has been engaged on those duties up to his promotion.
