Citation for US Bronze Star: At start of the counter-attack in the Ardennes, it became vital that a reliable Military Police officer should be sent to American Army as Liaison Officer, and Lt. Blenkharn was detached from 120 Pro Coy on the 17th December 1944. From 17th December 1944 Blenkharn liaised with HQ 9th US Army until 25th December 1944 and from 26th December 1944 until completion of the offensive on 20th February 1945 he liaised with 1st US Army in the Advanced Zone of Communications. During the period he was detached to US Army he did invaluable and untiring work during very involved operations tying up American and British troops. More than this, from his previous large practical experience as RSM Guards Armd Division Provost Coy he was able to afford the Americans every material assistance which they were pleased to record when his attachment to them ceased.
