Citation: Italy. Citation for MBE: Major EVATT has been APM of this Division for over a year. During that time he has been in control of the Provost arrangements for three mobile campaigns and one static campaign. The control and policing of roads has been of the utmost importance in all these battle. It is not too much to say that in the recent mobile operation in April 1945, the whole battle has turned on getting formations quickly over bridges and through diversions and defiles. Under this officer's organisation and control the Provost of this Division have carried out their tasks by day and night, often under fire, with efficiency, enthusiasm and a great devotion to duty. In the recent campaign, advancing up to 50 miles a day, enormous distances had to be covered and policed. The arrangements made by this officer never failed and he invariably appeared himself at the most difficult or advanced place. In all Provost matters his own example and enthusiasm has been as infectious to those under him as it has been sustained in himself.Lt Col GSO 1 6 Brit Armd Div.
