Citation: Italy. Citation for the award of the OBE: Lt Col McNALLY, as DPM, has been responsible for all Provost duties in this District since he came six month ago. During this time he has been responsible for the safe passage in the District of many very important personages, all of which has been accomplished with the minimum fuss and maximum efficiency. Furthermore, he has organised and planned measures for combating the dangerous armed gangs of deserters who were holding up and robbing civilians in the District. Due to his careful and well thought out instructions the gangs have been broken up and the menace settled. Lt Col McNALLY constantly tries new methods for improving discipline, both MT and personal, by using the very slender resouces in Provost Coys in the District to their very best advantage. His excellent example to all Provost personnel has raised the standard of all ranks to a very high pitch of efficiency. I strongly recommend him for the award of OBE.Col I L W D Laurie, DA & QMG 3 District. Maj Gen Comd 3 District. National Archive WO 373/73
