Citation: BEF. Citation for MID. Throughout the recent operations in France & Belgium this Warrant Officer has been an outstanding example through his conduct at all times to the men of the company. He showed great bravery and coolness at Dunkirk when his car was shattered by a nearby salvo of bombs and his servant was killed beside him. Though deafened and stunned by the explosion he continued on duty for the remainder of the day and all the following night. Thereby setting a magnificent example to the men during their initial days of continous bombing. National Archive WO 373/16.Awarded an MID. Recommended for the DCM.
