Citation: | Normandy. Citation for MBE: Major Cowie has served continously in the Army for nearly 24 years. His record of service in the ranks shows outstanding zeal and he was an RSM in the East Surrey Regt before being commissioned in Dec 1940. He joined the 3 Div Pro Coy in Nov 41 and commanded it from June 42 until May 43 when he became APM. During his service with this Division his work has been marked by a conspicuous keenness. He is extremely hardworking and consicentious and it has been due to him that a high standard in the Pro services of the Division has been maintained both during exercises and under static conditions. His cheerfulness and enthusiams have been an invaluable asset throughout.Maj-Gen Comd 3 Br Inf Div. Comd 1 Corps.
