| Citation: | Citation for MID Norway: This officer, during the period he served under my command, proved himself most energetic and efficient, particularly so during air raids, and the periods of evacuation, towards the end of which the company was working without relief. On several occasions Captain Irvine, by his prompt and correct action, either prevented altogether or stopped before anything serious occurred, cases of looting and disturbances due to drunkeness. I attribute the absence of any serious crime largely to his vigilance and the firm tactful behaviour of the military police, who were dealing with the personnel of all three services. The guarding of prisoners, which was by no means easy, was very efficiently performed. Brig Curry Base Comd. Lieut Gen Auchinleck GOC in C NWEF. Recommended for MBE awarded MID. | Citation: | Citation: 2nd Lt. Terence Carlyle Irivine, Seaforth Highlanders. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during a hostile attack upon his frontage. During a heavy barrage he kept moving about, keeping a careful watch upon No Man's Land, by which he was able to detect the enemy advancing in considerable numbers, and to rapidly and effectively direct the fire of his platoon upon them. No enemy entered our lie, except two who were brought in as prisoners. He displayed very fine leadership and presence of mind. |
