Citation: United Kingdom For conspicuous gallantry in carrying out hazardous work in a very brave manner. From London EC4. Citation for MBE: Lieutenant Posgate behaved in a most commendable and gallant manner when leading attempts to rescue a member of the crew of an R.A.F. bomber which had crashed in flames on 11th November, 1941, a mile south of Swaffam. Assisted by three civilians he succeeded in extricating one of the crew, suffering severe burns to his hands. During the whole time he was in imminent danger from exploding petrol tanks and acted in a very gallant manner at great persnal risk.National Archive WO 373/67 Pt.1.
