MBE (86891) from CMP to be Capt 23/1/43 and retain his present seniority. He held various Land Speed and Water Speed records in the 1920' & 1930's. Formed a CMP Motor Cyclist group in London District Pro Coy called the Bluebirds. He died in 1948. Extract from The Daily Record, 16/5/1939 SPEED KING POLICE CYCLIST. Sir Malcolm Campbell has become a military police motorcyclist and will control one London unit in the new Territorial section of the Corps of Military Police, who will escort mechanised units of the Army. He says that y"Young men who are good motorcyclist of good physique, reliable and intelligent and have tons of initiative and enterprise are wanted for the corps. "I still have 16 or 17 vacancies for selected men. Other units in London need at least another 106. Sir Malcolm's company includes TT riders. membeer of the corps must be prepared to serve overseas if they are needed. |
