| Citation: | Military Medal Citation.France & FlandersOn 27 May 1940 Lance Corporals Green and Welsh were placed at an important cross roads close to a bridge over a canal in DUNKIRK. Their duty was to divert troops entering the town to the sand dunes outside as the continual bombing attacks and large fires were rendering the town impossible. The cross roads and bridge were subjected to bombing and machine gunning attacks from the air throughout the day. These NCO's remained at their post despite all enemy acitivity until ordered to dismiss by their section commander, thus saving many lives by their action in continuing to direct troops to the sand dunes.Awarded the MM.
