Citation: | PM (Army). Queens Birthday Honours. Brigadier Paul Norman Davis (77622), MOD London. RMP. 17 Mar 1971 to date.Citation: Brigadier Davis has been Provost Marshal (Army) since 14 March 1971. The emergency in Northern Ireland has made his period as professional head of his Corps one of particular strain and difficulty for the Royal Military Police. Many new problems and commitments have arisen as a result of operations in Ulster, while previously existing military police tasks have not diminished, but, if anything, tended to increase. Brigadier Davis has been a tower of strength, both in Whitehall and in the way he has directed the activities of his Corps, throughout this time. Nothing has been too much trouble for him, no problem has been too difficult to undertake, while his Corps has responded in outstanding fashion to all the various challenges that have come their way. The exceptional contribution made by the RMP in operations in Northern Ireland is well exemplified by the 15 awards for gallantry given to the Corps since October 1967 while the excellent state of discipline in the Army as a whole reflects the admirable work done by military policemen in the Army's normal stations. Brigadier Davis' patience, common-sense, insistence on the highest standards, and, above all, ready co-operation with others have played a vital part in the work of his Corps during the last two years. He has rendered service to the Army of the very highest order, and his work richly merits recognition.Recommended by: maj Gen. Vice Adjutant General MOD. |
