Decoration: Member of the British Empire (London Gazette: 44326 Page: 6275 June 10, 1967)
Citation: Queen's Birthday Award. Captain Leslie Turner Hunt (303872), lately Corps of Royal Military Police, Territorial Army, 49 Div/Dist Pro Coy, RMP, TA. now Royal Leicestershire Regiment, Territorial) T & AVR. 1953-1956.Citation: Captain Hunt the PSO to the unit during the period September, 1960 to the present day, but he was also PSO to the unit from August 1953 - March, 1956, and January, 1957, to August 1958. He commanded the unit during part of this time, when no TA officer was available. This has given him a very detailed knowledge and deep understanding of the problems of the TA. He has applied this knowledge, together with all his experience during his regular army career since 1935, to the service of the TA., without sparing himself in any way. The experience he obtained as Chief Instructor at the depot and training establishment, RMP, have been of inestimable value to the unit and especially to the officers and NCO's who have had the benefit of his instruction. Captain Hunt has retained the ability, not only to teach but also to practice the skills needed in the corps, and is the best shot and motor cyclist in the unit, in spite of the competition he himself engendered. His understanding of the young soldier is very great, and his example and standard he sets has left his mark of every member of the unit. The fact that he has twice commanded the RMP unit in Berlin, whilst itself evidence of his qualities, has given him unique experience to draw upon for the benefit of the TA. During the transitional period from TA, to AVR, he has by his tact and enthusiasm helped to ensure smooth progress within the unit, and it is very much to his credit that so many of the NCO's are remaining the the AVR, after this unit disbanded.Recommended by: Maj. OC. 49 Div/Dist Pro Coy, RMP. (TA). Maj/Gen. GOC HQ 49 Div/Dist.
