Citation: United Kingdom. Citation for BEM: Sjt CARTER has served in the 38 (W) Inf Div Pro Coy since 15 May 1942. I have known him since Sep 1942 and during this period he has carried out his duties in an exemplary manner. He was promoted to the rank of Sjt on 7 Mar 43. The manner in which he carried out his duties on the following exercises HINDUPUR (May 43), GALLOP (Aug 43), CREDULOUS (Oct 43), DILAPIDATE (Nov 43), TAFFY (Dec 43), ESKIMO (Dec 43), BRASSO (Jan 44) was of the highest order. I received highest praise from all offrs who came in contact with CARTER during the said exercises for the excellent way in which the PROVOST SECTION under his command executed their duties. He has a very thorough knowledge of all phases of Provost Duties. Since 13 May 44 he has been in charge of a detached section on the IOW. He has carried out the additional duties imposed on him to my entire satisfaction and has shown tact, detrmination, loyalty and excellent judgement at all times beyond that normally associated with the rank of Sjt. The Civil Police IOW have recently stated that the co-operation and most valuable assistance received from CARTER at all times has been outstanding and greatly appreciated.APM 38 (W) Div.
