Decoration Record:
Decoration: British Empire Medal (London Gazette: 36866 Page: 37 Jan. 1, 1945)
Citation: Chester. Citation for BEM: Since July 1940 to date this Sjt. Has been Chief Clerk to the D.P.M. Western Command. By his efficiency, conscientiousness and maticulous attention to detail he has set an example that has resulted in the smoothest possible running of all office branches of the C.M.P. in this Command. His devotion to duty and his loyalty as a confidential clerk are quite outstanding. He has served under two former D.P.Ms. In this Command, both of whom have frequently expressed to me their appreciation of the excellency of his work. During the period of his appoitment as Chief Clerk, the C.M.P. in this Command has risen from a few detachments to a peak of over 2,000 personnel. He has been chiefly responsible for the spade work in this constant reorganisation and has at all times carried out his work with efficiency, cheerfulness and foresight.Lt Col D.P.M. Western Command.
