| Citation: | Tanganyika. Citation for BEM: Whilst i/c Det at TABORA TANGANYIKA TERRITORY he not only carried out his duties exceptionally well in every respect but on his own initiative and by touring the surrounding districts he was solely responsible for the arrest of some 150 absentees and deserters who might otherwise have been still at large. His visits to the outlying districts not only produced better relations between Tribe Chieftains and the Army but brought about a great improvement in the behaviour of Africans on leave.
