Citation: | New Year Honours. 24077330 Warrant Officer Class 2 Michael Reginald Ferrier. WO i/C SIB/RMP. For work in Belize.Citation: WO2 Ferrier has been the Royal Military Police Special Investigation Branch representative in Belize since February 1985. His responsibilities include the conduct of all criminal investigations involving members of the Royal Navy and Army and the gathering of criminal intelligence. His criminal investigations have covered the full range of crimes including death, rape, weapon losses and burglaries. His work has always been meticulous both in the unbiased approach an technical detail. His dogged pursuit of truth and accuracy have earned him the praise of coroners, civil courts and Court Martial. His professional approach to complex problems has earned him the unstinting admiration of the Belize Police Force who now regularly seek his advice and assistance to train their own investigators. This is no mean credit in a newly independant country, where local people have been shown to be only too reluctant to seek advice from British officials. His development of contacts throughout the civil community is legendary and is widely respected. The accuracy of his information and diligence of his investigation has permitted the Unite States Drug Enforcement Agency to conduct successful prosecutions against a dangerous American drug smuggling ring. Moreover his knowledge of the local criminal community has resulted in a steady and significant decrease in crimes against the Services. WO2 Ferrier, had conducted more investigations with a higher rate of successful prosecutions than any of his predecessors; his name has become a byword for law and order in Belize The unremitting pressure under which he has worked has been acknowledged by the addition of a second investigator. Throughout his tour he has put his fight against crime before his family or himself. His conduct has been beyond the call of duty and in the very best traditions of Her Majesty's Service. He is strongly recommended for public recognition.Recommended by: Maj. Deputy Chief of Staff, HQ British Forces Belize. Brig. Commander British Forces, Belize. Maj Gen. Chief of Staff, UKLF.
