Obituary. Mr K Hallewell.
Townspeople heard with regret on Friday of the death in Blackburn Royal Infirmary of PC Kenneth Hallewell, of 6 Moorland Road, Clitheroe. He was 42.
PC Hallewell joined the old Borough Police Force 20 years ago and was one of two members of it still remaining in Clitheroe.
At the age of 18, he joined the Coldstream Guards, serving for four years. He spent 5 years in the Corps of Military Police in the last war, seeing extensive service overseas.
He had been ill for only a short time, but about six years ago he had an eye removed by an operation.
The sympathy of all will be extended to his widow and two children for their loss.
Among those present at the funeral at Clitheroe Cemetery on Monday were Assistant Chief Constable W H Linaker, Chief Superintendent W H Linaker, Chief Superintendent J Woodmansey, inspector W Wright and members of the Clitheroe section of the Lancashire Constabulary
Tributes to P C Hallewell were paid at Clitheroe Magistrates Court yesterday by the Chairman of the Bench Alderman F Dugdale, Inspector W Wright and Mr T U Liddle (Clerk).
