| Citation: | New Year Honours. For road safety work in BAOR 23674140 Corporal Geoffrey Tempest Robinson. 112 Pro Coy. RMP. RMP GDP and Unit Road Safety Officer. 27 July 1976 - 6 Jul 1978.Citation: In addition to his normal duties, Corporal Robinson has been employed as the Unit and Garrison Road Safety Officer. He has devoted to this task time and effort far exceeding that expected of him. On his own initiative he has undertaken the organisaiton of road safety training schemes for the child population of BAOR's largest Garrison, Osnabruck. not only have these schemes been of enormous safety value to the children but also they have fostered a relationship between the children and 'the law' which will be of lasting benefit. He has continually sought to ensure that his training is inventive and therefore interesting and entertaining to the children. Through his thoroughness, care and preparation he has become one of Osnabruck's schools' most sought after visitor. As a member of the Garrison's Road Safety Committee he has advised on legal aspects, road safety precautions and education, schools liaison visits and cycle proficiency training. He has performed this task in a manner which would normally be expected only of a senior NCO or warrant officer. he has highlighted particular areas of concern relating to traffic problems and has personally seen to their solution through improvement or elimination. Most of the good work described above has been done in the evenings and at weekends. Corporal Robinson has sacrificed his fee time in the interest of the community at large and in order to promote amongst children and their parents a greater understanding of the importance of road safety. Through his own endeavours in conjunction with schools, youth groups and community centres he has reflected great credit on his unit and his Corps.
